Inside #Harvey Nichols Secret Vault - Manchester

Last Wednesday I was invited to Harvey Nichols 2012 A/W press day in Manchester.Once inside their SECRET VAULT the number of which will have to remain anonymous (whether your chasing your next horcrux or not I'm afraid) I peered round the vault er room and was impressed by the quality of the products and fashions to be had within the walls of Harvey Nichols. The lovely very knowledgeable Rebecca (kindly holding up the white shirt for my shot) explained that often buyers may just select one or two items from what is essentially a much larger designer range, that they feel will be popular with shoppers and that these are then used to create intimate in store boutiques, I really like this idea, kind of like a room within a room and besides too much choice can sometimes be a little exhausting when your buying gifts or clothes even!

Looking round at some of the fashion labels and creatively packaged items I could'n't resist thinking of some of my favourite fashion bloggers who would love to receive some of these delights under their Christmas tree this year. Rather than keep my suggestions to myself I thought I might spill the beans and share my gift ideas for each fashion blogger with you! You can of course disagree strongly if you are familiar with the bloggers already and think I have got them all wrong!

1. I caught a glimpse of the bird detail on this mens pale blue Alexander Mcqueen shirt and thought of Jen @ A Little Bird Told Me she loves unusual prints and knows how to rock a shirt!

2.The packaging that I got most excited about was the large square Penhaligon gift sets these beautiful vivid oriental boxes look almost antique and house bottles of scent that look like they come from Victorian chemists. This I thought was a gift that stately home loving Pink Bow would be prepared to trade her pink bow for this Christmas.

3.The pretty pink florentines and newly launched perfume Florabotanica would have to go to fun loving Diamond Canopy I felt sure her sweet tooth would appreciate this twist on the classic florentine and she would be as thrilled as I was with a perfume bottle that reminds me of a piece of Everton rock (with stripes running the wrong way of course!) running through it and is packaged in such pretty floral box, although youthful it also has an art deco feel which is very classy too.

4.Overseas elegant and luxe blogger Savvy Mode would swoon over the feel good factor of the Jo Malone hamper complete with black tissue and sprinkled with green leaves and blackberries.

5.I spied a round boxed candle with an image of the achingly hip James Dean, deep in conversation and the Benefit beauty set cleverly disguised to look like a novel complete with witty title would have to wend its way overseas to the adorable Vixen Vintage

6. Did I miss something out?Oh that old thing, the Alexander Mcqueen floral De manta satin clutch you mean? Yep that's got my name on it, signed sealed and delivered and as sure as eggs as eggs that would be any girls Passport To Style.

Alice Though The Looking Glass

Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated by glass and the way it reflects light, from collecting marbles and playing alleys in the school playground to simply finding pleasure in buffing them with a cloth and watching them sparkle. I loved chemistry at school, not because I was good at it, but simply because I loved using the small clear shiny test tube's we put a range of colourful chemicals into.

I adore the poetry and history of glass, the thought that something has been around for such along time, that helps illuminate our home's and our lives. Something that is hard, but so fragile, can be jagged or faceted but when blown often has rounded contours. The sound a glass pane makes, when drop's of rain pit pat on it.  When tree's blow, even if we are inside, we get a sense of the wind, even though we can't see it, we see it's effect. So it is with glass, it helps captures light and reminds us just how beautiful it is.

I loved visiting Venice and the island of Murano glass.
This wonderful material is now used in eco home's, as well as stately home's and come in a huge array of colour's. Chandelier's make me giddy with delight and of course mirror's, well, they are a big part of my job as a Stylist, helping clients uncover their own unique style!

My Happy Place!

Hi there, today I'm sharing a few of the things that make me happy!I was tagged by the lovely Suzie, from Itch to Stitch to play this fun game, please visit her she has a really great blog!Focusing on whatever makes you truly happy and really appreciating those aspects of your life, evokes those happy feelings again!! So it really is a game that we would all feel so much better for playing! I just adore knowing what other gals happy things are don't you?

Number 1. had to be this bubble gum pink scooter, no I don't own one, but  just dreaming of flying around Italy on this scooter and stopping at an occassional Gelatri for a marscapone ice-cream makes me feel very happy!Well a girl can dream can't she!

At number 2 sorry! I'm still on the subject of ice-cream, I could not resist! Ben and Jerry's ethical and very delicous flavours with a huge fun factor, who could resist it's power to brighten even the darkest day?!! All it takes is a little spoon, a little effort and a very short space of time!Delicous and curently I believe you can win another one of my favourites with every tub of chunky monkeyMr Kippling bag!

At number 3, colour makes me very happy, it inspires me, gives me energy and confidence, soothes my soul on a weary day and evokes memories of favourite places, whats your favourite colour? I particularly love orange and wearing silver as you would white in summer, as it reflects light onto the face and is soo flattering!

At number 4, this might seem a little strange, but it's a dish called Toad in the Hole, basically pancake batter with sausages, making this dish always makes me happy as it is one of the dishes my husband and I always made together and enjoyed eating when we first met!If you have eaten it I really recomend it!

At number 5, its denim worn in new and exciting ways, particularly summer weight denium which is much lighter than standard denium, I love this range by ethical company Tree Hugger!I have also fallen for the charms of denium treggings great for those like myself that have less than perfect knees!

At number 6 I have a beautiful large green amber ring that my husband bought me for valentines day, when we were staying in the Lake district together, it makes feel happy every time I wear it! Reminding me of that day. There is somthing really special about knowing that amber is thousands of years old, I love all the bubbles and light in the resin and the colour makes me feel at peace!

At number 7, I bought this pair of Fly ankle boots on a recent trip to Edinburgh and adore the clever hybrid of design elements- Edwardian spats coupled with a chelsea boot with a zig zag sole!So comfy they feel like slippers after a full days shopping and look amazing with dresses or treggings!

At number 8 I'm a big fan of Alessi watches Italian designers of Kitchen ware, I love there simple sophistication, clever use of materials (such as rubber) and quirky design elements such as the rim around the watch being raised above the face! When you wear somthing everyday and adore wearing it, thats great happiness value!!

At number 9 my phone make me very happy because it allows me to say in touch with my friends, which is so important particularly when life gets hectic, great invention the phone; I think sometimes we gals, forget that with the accesibility of emailing and texting! Recently Lilly Allen, declared she was taking a break from her work and pulling the plug on Twitter and Facebook in an effort to spend  more real, rather than virtual time with her friends, I commend her for that!!

Finally at number 10 music makes me very happy! I could not imagine me life without it! My son plays in a band and plays the guitar and drums, I love hearing him sing in the morning to his guitar now that he is recovered from his head injury!! I love listening to music in the car and letting all my cares and worries fall away as I move through time and space and I  get such a buzz from going to live concerts! My New Years resoloution is to go to alot more live concerts! Sxx

Now I'm tagging these lovely bloggers to share their 10 favourite things that make them happiest
