Wake Up Your Style This Party Season!

I love this seasons penchant for highly textured looks, from woven hair and sheepskin boot's to wool cape's and leather jewellery, this season of texture, fits my style ethic " Great style is in the detail" perfectly! Whilst some people lust after a car or a holiday I lust after a piece of hand woven tweed from the Isle of Harris to incorporate into a new design of my own!!!

Whether you want to wake up your animal print's or inject a element of luxe drama into one colour dressing, in time for the christmas party season, texturising your look as well as your hair is definately the way to go! Feel like building up your textured wardrobe gradually? Why not opt for a wool bangle or two first?

Gorgeous rust off the shoulder puckered cotton dress from Browns, accessorise with ivory and cream tone's and gold, darrrlings!

Geek Chic part 2 - Up With The Clark's!!!

Hi Gals, hope your having fun this weekend, welcome back to part two of Geek Chic, Ok once upon a time there was a little girl of about 12 who had very odd duck shaped feet, her mum wanted to make sure her feet were healthy so bought her good quality shoes from clarks, sensible brown lace up miss marple style, that the girl thought were blah and used to swap for strappy shoes from her school satchel with a spindly heel as soon as she left home!

Now whilst I realise that these accessories are super lady like cool now, they deffinately were not back in the day and my brown leather lace ups were no way as sophisticated as these suede chocolate beauties above, are you feeling my teen angst yet?

So how does the story end? Well the girl has grown up and Clarks shoe shop has turned into a beautiful Swan of a shop, selling comfy shoes with an edge. Over two season's ago I bought two pair's of neutral toned shoe's in the sale. The first pair these boots from Clarks, clog shaped fronts, check, double buckle's which tap into the hot aviator trend, check, in a nude colour check and guess what I reckon a hybrid clog and aviator boot in nude with a dippped heel, is even more on trend now, than two seasons ago! Now that's value for money!

My 2nd pair of sale bargins, bought two seasons back also, these cone heel peeptoe shoes in mushroom suede from Topshop, cone heels are making a big come back and well truth be told I would just wear them anyway, for there oldy worldy charms and luxe feel! Any Sale Tales from your part of the world, to astound and delight Fabulous Followers of My Passport to Style? please tell, we are dying to know!

Geek Chic Part 1- Roxanne....

Hi Gals todays post as you can see is dedicated to Geek Chic. I firmly believe that perfect beauty alone can be boring and there for geeky. It is our distinct feature's that help create our unique signature style and often people with distinct features that know how to work them, whose style we remember most. When I was young I wished I had a more prominent nose like my mother or a fuller cleft chin like my father, I think women with cleft chins look great! One of the great advantages of strong facial feature's is that you can play with wearing bold sculptural jewellery, hood's and hat's all of which I crave, but honestly, bold statement piece's look silly on my neckline, as they tend to over shadow my small face and feature's. My advice take a fresh look at what you consider to be your worst facial feature and play it up, you will probably be surprised at how it opens up a whole new world of makeup and accessory options!

Sigh, I guess a statement cuff or bangle will have to do!

Hope your having a lovely weekend gals whatever your doing, incidentally what are you doing right now??? I would love to know! See you sooner than you think, for part 2 of Geek Chic and for my DIY cape post, don't miss them!!

Ultra Flat Stomach Skirt Dilemma!!!

My lovely gal pal was looking for the perfect skirt to show off her washboard stomach and tiny waist, which usually longer torso girls are blessed with. The high waisted skirt is perfect, adding strength to the leg's.These are my pick's for her. Just remember this look only works with your top tucked in to your skirt!

You Asked I Answered-Dollie Daydream,3rd Avenue Style,La Vie J'aimie and Couture Millinery Atelier!

Hi Gals, hope your having a lovely weekend, the last 3 posts have all been Style Dispensary session' on how to wear these trends this S/S season.I invited you to ask any Style questions you might have in these 3 areas and to share your favourite colour combinations, Couture Millinery Atelier asked -

For several years I have wanted to purchase a dramatic red gown, but am afraid to do it, thinking that for me a platinum blonde, it would be too much, what do you suggest?

Answer - To stop red's looking too brash with platinum blonde hair, opt for orangey red's or red's with pink undertones. As in the picture above featuring the beautiful Marylin Monroe in her sweater.

Katie from 3rd Avenue Style asked-

Style Dilemma- So how does wearing clashing print's work if you are say not so petite? I love the clashing prints look but worry about adding extra pounds to my look!

Answer- Opt for wearing a dress in a smaller print and then create a panel down the centre by wearing a larger print in a cardigan of the same colour, thus elongating your shape with a paneled effect, simular colour's create a more groomed style, which is also flattering for more curvy women. The 2nd trick is to wear bold print on the hemline of your skirt or dress, thus drawing the eye down.

Avoid large print all over, horizontal print and print which divides the body up into too many sections, reducing the length of the body and increasing the width.

Jaimie from La vie J'aimie asked me where this top came from. This very stylish number was a summer 2009 buy from Boden, POWER to Boden's timeless look, that it still tick's all the boxes for dressing this S/S!

These picks are for KITTY over at Dollie Daydream who shared  her lovely favourite colour combinations with me, pinks, peaches and creams.Soo pretty!

Tis The Season To Wear Pattern - Style Dispensary and Topshop Scarf Giveaway!!!

As some of you maybe a where it is the season for being bold with colour, pattern and texture, so I have decided to do a series of three Style Dispensary sessions, partly inspired by a Style Dilemma/ question recently posted to me by the lovely Emma on how to nail this seasons trend for clashing prints!
A great way to add texture or pattern is through wearing a scarf, as a thank-you to all my lovely followers I'm holding a Topshop scarf giveaway details in the top right of my side bar, good luck!

I have always been passionate about print's as well as colour's and texture's, so this spring season, I am so happy that all three are well and truly in the mix! Many women like My Passport to Style follower Emma, who classes herself as a petitie gal, feel scared of using pattern in their wardrobe, but it really is so valuable in helping personalise your look and flattering your unique bodyshape.

So what's the key rule if your scared of all the buisy prints out there like Emma? It's really simple if your a petite, there's one rule, either wear a dress, or mix up your prints polka dots with stripes for instance, but wear the same colour. This will allow Emma to benefit from the interest and dimension's created using print, without swamping her petite frame! Here are two great examples of how to wear this look. The first is  a skirt and top from Boden, they are masters in suppling wonderful prints and colourways, if your struggling to pull this look together, visit them, for a mouthwatering selection! The 2nd look that I created for Emma which I'm really excited about is a neutral look from Warehouse. These accessories not only help create a more urban feel, but offer great value as they can easily make the transistion between tribal and this seasons take on the nautical look effortlessly!

For those of who are petite or just want to buy into the clashing print look a  dress is one of the most stress free ways, below are a few of my favourite pieces from Urban Outfitters! Enjoy!

The quickest route to falling out of love with your wardrobe!

Hi there, lovely blogging community, todays Style Advice is simple but critical to your wardrobe well being!
There is no point, spending time and energy shopping for beautiful clothes if you don't A) Try them on while you're doing so or B) Try them on once you get home in front of a full length mirror. Sounds so obvious but I have lost count of the times that my client's will spend money on a nice closet, great shoe boxes, scented draw liners, the clothes themselves and me, yet forget to invest in a good mirror! If you are one of these women who spends your time stood perched precariously on a stool or the bed, trying to get some idea of how your top and bottom half of clothing are working together, only to despair because you feel that you look terrible! Please take a tip from me, a well lit full length mirror is the best investment you will ever make! Half a mirror can, depending on where it's hung, which is usually high up in your room , only reflect half of you! Invaribly it usually ends up being the widest part of your body the tops of your thighs and your stomache! Not the most flattering reflection, hence your friend's being pleasantly surprised at receiving all your newest cast offs!  Sxx
