Abersoch Here I Come!

Hi my lovely followers, I'm off to Abersoch in Wales for a week to help my family move house and to soak up the lovely air. Look forward to seeing you when I get back. I love welsh cakes, there kinda of like scones but flatter, cooked on a iron griddle, they have a lovely flavour of nutmeg and Cinnamon with sugar sprinkled on top, lovely with butter and a cup of tea. Then there is the rustic barabrith also a great traditional tea time treat there, a dense fruit tea loaf bursting with orange peel. What always reminds me of Abersoch the most apart from the cakes, is the wild gorse, bright saffron yellow in colour, the juxtaposition of each stem of the flowers stems shooting out in all directions, somehow makes me think of a haphazard firework display.Look forward to reading all your comments, when I get back, hope your having a great summer and having fun with your wardrobe! Sx

Tea Room Chic, Autumn/Winter Style

This post has been inspired by the English tradition of afternoon tea and the tea dress. I thought it was about time I held a tea party and served up some Delicious slices of Style advice for all you feminine and stylish gals out there. This Autumn /winter, floral dresses feature big time, worn with textured fabrics such as tweed and wool, giving a lovely vintage country feel or toughened up with studs, leather and a shiny cuff.Warehouse has come up smelling of roses, with there magnificent take on floral dresses for winter as I think you will agree. I have have featured my top lust haves from Warehouse .What I love about this trend is that it is so cheerful! We cant always have sunshine, but at least we can have flowers to brighten our day.
So here's my fool proof guide to wearing this trend, I know the rock chicky way, is to toughen up the look with black, but lets get realistic, most of us can look a little pasty and washed out in the winter months, particularly us paler skinned beauties.Large quantities of black can also cheapen colour. My advice is accessorise your look with neutrals colours such as the belts and jackets and cardigans featured here. This will create a more expensive look and help reflect light onto your face.If you wish to wear tough spiky black boots, no problem, but wear with grey, or soft pink tights. Want to go floral and slightly punky with a twist of Cindy Lauper, then add a pair of clashing coloured tights, but stick to neutrals on top.
See you soon

Over The Knee Boots Autumn/Winter are you a Pretty Woman or more Puss in Boots?

Are you itching to wear the new power boot that is so hot for Autumn winter? It comes in many guises, from just over the knee to thigh high. There are a few Style rules that you need to consider unless you really are like some of the larger than life characters featured today. So generally, I would advise steering clear of black patent thigh boots, unless you are really tall and super confident about your ability to dress them down, which is a pretty tough task!If you are around 5.7 in height go for low to flat heeled suede versions with a shift dresses or above the knee skirts, keep the look classy by teaming with textured natural fabrics such as silk, wool or tweed as in my recent Izzy Lane post. The military look is a hot trend this Autumn/ Winter as is padded shoulders. Although these may seem obvious Style choices to wear with over the knee or thigh high boots, this look could easily become a bit of a cliche. Just add military, as you would a expensive perfume, sparingly, through perhaps your choice of hand bag, hat, makeup, or belt. Sewing some new buttons onto a non military style coat, is a great way to create a coat with a military twist, go for soft feminine colours.
OK for those of us who are not long of leg, or our legs are fuller at the thigh, I count myself in this category, rejoice in the huge variety of ankle boots that are around this Autumn/ Winter. Biker chic is huge this Autumn/ Winter and studded boots are a strong trend that has staying power, there are some really pretty ruched variety's around that echo the seasons trend for textured fabric and being playful with clothing proportions. For more petite women, go for pretty neutral colours that won't over power you and team with plain tights in a similar shade. Or if you decide to go for the tough biker ankle boot, wear with a soft wool dress or a fluid three quarter length jump suit and keep accessories to a minimum. Remember the lower the ankle boot the longer your leg will look, this is great for women with heavier legs, the longer your leg appears, the sleeker and more shapely it looks, simple fashion maths! Hope you enjoyed my mini masterclass on how to wear the latest boot trends. For over the knee styles featured here, see Top Shop and for the ankle boots visit the Office see you soon.

Now you have been tagged have fun

Hi there, I was tagged by the lovely Koralee from Bluebird notes, I'm a bit new to all this, but have posted a few of my favourite things on here in response and tagged 5 bloggers below, for you to visit, in no particular order, it was pretty tough choosing!!! Some of my favourite things are slightly bizarre i.e I love red cranes, it's hard to explain why, they just look so majestic and purposeful against the blue sky. They make me feel like anything is possible! When people smile, who doesn't love that! The Nepalese people are famed for being one of the most friendly people on the planet. My father is Nepalese so I guess I am slightly biased. Any excuse to bake a cake, it sooo therapeutic and satisfying, the smell wafting through the house, the anticipation of whether it will rise to perfection. I'm making a huge gooey chocolate cake for youngest sons birthday on Monday, yay! Sitting with my friends enjoying a drink on a sunny day, by the canal side, in my beautiful home town of Lancaster. Last but not least, I adore eating a Ben and Jerry's ice-cream in the cinema, Phish food is yummy, but I like the marshmallow and polar bear variety. They are true ice-cream visionaries, whats your favourite flavour?

Now My Passport to Style, will tag 5 new blogs for you to visit below.

Izzy Lane Ethical Clothing Company - A Yorkshire Pioneer Is Born

I am so excited about introducing you to Isobel Davies from Yorkshire, the founder of Izzy Lane an ethical couture wool clothing line. A vegetarian, with a vision for uniting her passion for saving sheep from slaughter that didn't quite make the mark, whilst breathing new life into the British textile industry.Izzy lane cloth is woven at an ancient mill in Selhir using Victorian machinery, that has been in operation for well over a hundred years. The ethically based company use fleeces from sheep that have been saved by Izzy and now live out their days at the sheep sanctuary which Izzy first founded. The fleece from Wensleydale and Shetland sheep are used to make the wools necessary to achieve such quality luxury apparel as well as the fleeces from Scottish cashmere goats. These beautifully tailored pieces, I have selected, have not a hint of heaviness about them, wool is wonderful as it breathes. I have for some time now had a fixation on natural fibres, my close friends choose clothes in fear of me feeling the fabric of the item they have happily selected and reciting my usual mantra of, is the fabric a breathable fibre? i.e a cotton or a wool mix, if not it will wash like a rag after one wash, cling to all the bits you wish it didn't and crease within two minutes of your wearing. Quite simply I'm a bit of a fabric snob, I think natural fibres generally makes us feel nice when we wear them and keep us smelling nice too. They are far superior to man made fibres at keeping us warm in cool weather and cool when the sun ever decides to show its face! Here endeth my fabric sermon. But what do you think? Or do you even care? Man made or natural fibres, what works best for you? Visit http://www.izzylane.com/
