#LFW12 Hosts A Fashion #Retrospective

One of the highlights of London Fashion Week 2012 has to be Bourne and Hollingsworth first ever vintage catwalk show - Retrospective, journeyed through time and space plucking out the very best vintage pieces from names like Mary Quant, Dior, Ossie Clark, Chanel and Givenchy, recreating exciting fashion forward looks for SS 2013.The after party was full of theatre and a dazzling display of dance as a flash mob of flapper girls took to the floor whilst onlookers sipped Bourne and Hollingsworth cocktails dressed in their finest vintage attire.

I first fell in love with Aquascutum years ago when I snagged a classic short cream 60s mac from a charity shop for the ridiculous price of £2.00, the cut was sublime and suited the 60's phase I was working at the time, it went everywhere with me, so I think this stunning red and navy Aquascutum mac from the 1970s has to be one of favourite pieces in this little line up together with the punchy and elegant bee stripe Ossie Clark dress from the 70s.Do you have a favourite look or piece from this little line up? Should Vintage fashions have a regular airing at London Fashion Week?

#Marks & Spencer #Very Vintage Dress Challenge

Hi Gals, Marks & Spencer recently challenged me to style up a vintage dress from my wardrobe that makes me feel effortlessly stylish as well as choose an M&S dress that is a classic piece and won't date. Their favourite look will win a vintage themed weekend in London. I don't need much tempting to step into a vintage frock but I must admit a chance to enjoy a vintage themed weekend in London sounds fun!

Loving all shades of blue as I do, bright tones, prints and fuss free styling that can be dressed up or down, this original 70s dress with a cutsie geometric print in aqua ticks all the boxes. I have worn it over the summer with marshmallow pink pumps and yellow ankle socks but decided to dress it up a little for this special occasion with my pale gold Crest Of A Wave vintage handbag, a pretty pleated vintage floral scarf and my newly dyed khaki suede peep toe shoes.I spotted this dress in my favourite local vintage shop in Lancaster - The Vintage Shop.

If I had to choose
the ultimate M&S dress that would stand the test of time? It would be this nifty number from M&S the Colour Block Lucy Dress. A great shirt dress is about as classic as it gets and this beauty could be styled up so many ways to look sporty, chic or casual, from leggings and high tops to geometric tights and a string of long beads to a favourite pair of suede fringed cowboy boots or just some neat block heel pumps. Do you own a shirt dress or a favourite hard working classic that you can't live without? Do tell!

My PassportTo Style | A Little Pink Moment, To Brighten Your Monday

pink cherry balloon cake, well, that's what I like to call it!

Hi Gals,  pink cherry jelly and cherry mousse cake and my favourite vintage pink and blue stripey beach shorts from the summer, do you think my vintage beach shorts might have been Marc Jacobs fabric inspiration for this latest sweet dress from his girls wear collection? I like to think so.

Meet The Latest Vintage Vamps | Cloth Magpie And Truly Sopel

For all you new vintage fans out there here are two scrummy unique British labels to feast on that will bring a big splash of sunshine to your wardrobes, that I'm bursting to introduce you to. But first for those of you that are a bit puzzled with the term 'new vintage', let me explain, new vintage is basically a new take on an original vintage design or style, that has been recreated using new fabric. Very often companies still opt for reproduced vintage prints or reclaimed vintage fabric that are still in mint condition. The benefits are pretty obvious, all the charm of vintage with none of the wear. You may also have the luxury of being able to choose one design in several prints or different colour ways, as was the rigour in days past, when styles of women's clothing were much more restricted a unique pattern of fabric was essential to helping you stand out amongst a crowd of wasp waisted women.

Cloth Magpie the British handbag label created by designer Sam Cross in Cambridge born out of her love for vintage fabrics, offers three distinct retro style handbag shapes in a wide variety of vintage prints, beautifully finished with a bright contrasting lining. But Magpie Cloth has gone that little bit further than most vintage etailers to spoil all you vintage lovers out there; simply register your newly purchased handbag on the Magpie site and you can claim free matching key ring, don't you just love that! Seeing as they are holding a fantastic sale right now AND all the current Cloth Magpie designs work with the strong trend for 60's and 70's this A/W 11 it will be tough to choose...

Next up on my vintage hotties hit list, is the lovely Truly Sopel from Somerset, inspired by the dresses she used to create as a little girl for her dollies and a wish to recapture the pretty innocence she remembers, she launched a fun, frivolous range of underwear showcased here today at Truly Knickers off the back of her very successful vintage clothing line at Truly Sopel, I think the sunshine yellow tweed coat is adorable. I'm loving the sheer versatility of Truly's vintage inspired knickers sets, in a range of the cutest fabric, you simply pop on a set in the morning teaming the top with a pair of your favourite jeans and if you get a little too hot and bothered just slip your jeans off and hey presto you're a chic 50s pin up girl ready to sun bathe or cool down, equally these would make a great set of stylish PJ. Find your perfect match here.

A Marriage Made In Heaven??

Hi Gals, any of you out there with a wedding's to go to soon? Wedding dressing can be blissful, if you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve from your look. The path to finding a dress that will flatter and give you the confidence that you look elegant with out looking so understated that you end up looking just plain drab, can be a bit of rocky path. With this in mind, for all you would be wedding guest party gals out there, I have cherry picked some of  my favourite vintage looks from the wonderful poshgirlvintage.com Whilst throwing in a few fail safe wedding style tips along the way, to ensure your wedding guest outfit is a great success!

Raffia is a huge trend this season

Simple styling works best, keep your bust under wraps, with pretty faux wrap styles

There are nude coloured dresses everywhere right now, but for those wishing to be a little more adventurous in their wedding attire, opt for clean lines and and inject some colour and pattern, save the nudes, for your shoes, guaranteed to give you more than one wear through the summer! Adds inche's to your leg length to boot!

Finish with a sweet straw bag that shouts country garden inocent, keep jewellery minimal and makeup and hair simple.

Adorable sailor stripe 50s dress with large fob watch print at the hem and a tie belt with life like, key embelishment on the belt!

If you opt for a vintage dress, don't be afraid of accessorising with modern piece's or piece's from different periods

This shape is so flattering for hourglass or pear shapes

Flattering  pattern, simple shape, high necks are great for small busted gal's. Top Style Tip-  avoid wearing lace or any shade of white on its own, this is reseved for the bride only

How adorable is this silk handpainted shift dress?

I had to finish with this floaty pink sorbet, polka dot number

Just incase you miss out on the wedding cake, it happens! Hop over to the lovely Dollie from chroniclesofdolliedaydream, she is holding a bake off competition and giveaway, which sounds like alot of fun.!
